Jerry Tarkanian comments on NCAA investigations, UNLV teams
Former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian joined the show to talk about the recent HBO documentary on the Runnin’ Rebels.
Dan asked Tark why he’s not in the Hall of Fame. Tarkanian said that he wrote some critical articles about the NCAA years ago and they never forgave him.
“Any time I talk about them, I gotta rip ’em,” Tarkanian said. But he did say the NCAA is more fair now than it was years ago. He said investigators wouldn’t tape their conversations with him.
Tarkanian also cleared up a misconception about those great UNLV teams. He said that they were focused on defense first, not offense.
Tarkanian also shared some old recruiting stories. He said he knew he wasn’t going to get Chris Webber, because Webber’s had such strong connections to Michigan.
