Seth Davis comments on unexpected Final Four
Sports Illustrated college basketball analyst Seth Davis joined the show to talk about the surprising field in the Final Four.
Davis said this Final Four proves that the system works. And he thinks that the the championship game will do big ratings because you’ll have an elite team like UConn or Kentucky against a great underdogs like Butler and VCU.
Davis said he didn’t think VCU deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament. “I don’t believe in using the results of the Tournament to validate or in-validate who’s in the Tournament,” Davis said. He used the same argument for the Big East — some of that conference’s early losses didn’t prove anything.
Davis had a lot of praise for Butler coach Brad Stevens. He said he may not be the best coach in the land, but there are no better coaches. Davis thinks he’s the equal of Coach K, Roy Williams, etc.
Davis thinks VCU’s Shaka Smart might take a new job, but he doesn’t think Stevens is going anywhere. Davis said that the only gig that Stevens might leave for is Indiana. “Butler is a great job,” said Davis, who thinks there’s no reason for Stevens to leave.
