David Feherty talks about challenges of crazy day at Masters
CBS analyst David Feherty joined the show to break down the 2011 Masters and the wild final day.
Feherty said the entire CBS telecast was challenging on Sunday because the leaders kept changing. “It was like watching a herd of goats doing crosswords,” Feherty said. “It was so confusing, I gave up.”
Feherty said he had dinner with Rory McIlroy on Sunday night. “For anybody who feels sorry for him, don’t,” Feherty said. “What an extraordinary kid. There’s a lot of talk comparing him to Greg Norman. Greg Norman was twice his age.”
Feherty said he was the assistant pro many years ago in the town McIlroy grew up on. Feherty said to grow up there, “you need a keen sense of the absurd.” Feherty said McIlroy said if that’s the worst day of his life, he’s a “whole lot luckier” than most people.
Feherty said that the thing he’ll remember from this Masters is McIlroy’s collapse. But he thinks other people will remember Tiger getting close.
