Derek Fisher talks about Lakers’ series-opening loss to Hornets

Lakers point guard Derek Fisher joined the show to talk about their series-opening loss to the Hornets and their chances moving forward in the playoffs.

Dan asked Fisher to try to explain how the Lakers lost on Sunday. “Sometimes there is no explanation,” Fisher said.

Fishers said he hasn’t watched film of the game yet. But he said Kobe Bryant did and called him to point out they need to improve a few things defensively and make the Hornets play in the space the Lakers want them to — not the other way around.

Fisher said repeating isn’t easy. “There’s a tendency to think that since you did it before you can do it again,” Fisher said. But Fisher said that you have to really stay on top of the details to keep winning. Even veteran teams have to stay on top of everything.

Fisher said that he’s glad the Lakers have a couple of days off to work on some of the things that contributed to the loss. He said they’ve been banged up and need more practice.
