Al Leiter recalls 9/11 and comments on big stories in MLB

MLB Network analyst Al Leiter joined the show to talk about his memories of 9/11 and to analyze some baseball topics.

Leiter was with the Mets when they played their first game against the Braves after 9/11 and won on a big home run by Mike Piazza. “It was a strange feeling of trying to be normal and proceed, and knowing what took place a couple of weeks [before],” Leiter said.

Leiter also weighed in on the Cleveland Indians having a 19-8 record. He said that he doesn’t necessarily expect them to keep it up. “I think it is great for baseball,” Leiter said of teams like the Indians doing well. He said teams like the Indians, Royals, Marlins and Rays are really good for baseball.

Leiter is surprised by the Twins and White Sox struggling in the AL Central. He thinks the White Sox should be much better.
