Bob Costas stops by the studio with his Emmy
The 22-time Emmy winner dropped by the studio to celebrate his victory last night with Dan.
Dan and Costas talked about how we’re not going to see that many major broadcasters moving forward. Costas said no one will be able to cover as many big events as broadcasters like Jim Nantz and Al Michaels. “Things eventually are going to become too fractionalized,” Costas said.
Costas also got into baseball records. He thinks the save record and the strikeout record could go because of the structure of the game. Guys don’t mind going down swinging. But most big records will remain intact for some time.
Costas pointed to the one unbreakable record. Johnny Van De Meer’s consecutive no-hitters. Costas said a pitcher would have to have three no-no’s.
Costas thinks pitchers will throw to Andre Ethier despite his 28-game win streak. He said don’t take it too seriously at 35.
Costas had interesting comments on Pedro Martinez. He said he’s one of the top 10 pitchers of all time. People just discount him because of his personality.
