Chris Mannix says Lakers don’t need to blow things up

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs and the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight. Here are some of his takes:

— Mannix thinks it’s ridiculous people say that the Lakers have to tear down and start over. They won two titles and aren’t that old. He thinks the only big deal they should make is try to move Bynum for Dwight Howard.

Mannix thinks the Lakers have an advantage in the race for Howard by dangling Bynum, who he considers a better prospect than the Nets’ Brook Lopez.

— Mannix thought Bynum’s cheap foul on Jose Barea was particularly pathetic. He said Bynum should have fouled a bigger guy. “This could have been ugly if Tyson Chandler was in the game,” Mannix said.

Mannix said this loss was revealing. “This to me spoke volumes about who the Lakers really are,” Mannix said.

— Mannix thought Mosley’s performance against Pacquaio was pathetic. “I just expected him to go down swinging,” Mannix said.
