Shaughenssy says trade ended Celtics’ chance of winning title

Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy joined the show to talk about the Celtics trailing the Heat 3-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Shaughnessy thinks it’s no surprise the older Celtics are losing to a team with stars in their athletic prime. Shaughnessy said these guys are old in NBA age.

Shaughnessy said Boston partially traded Kendrick Perkins because it thought Shaquille O’Neal would contribute. He said the Celtics were the most feared team in the league at the break before they made the trade. Then Shaughnessy said they got nothing back. None of the players they added has helped at all.

Shaughnessy said the Heat learned from their struggles and are really playing great defense. “It’s impressive what you’re seeing,” Shaughnessy said. “This is what people expected. This is what people feared.”
