Mannix: Dirk unstoppable right now, but Thunder can come back

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs and the draft lottery.

Mannix had interesting comments on the way Dirk Nowitzki is playing. “His career has been like an EKG. It shoots up sharply, and then goes right back down,” Mannix said. But Mannix said right now he’s playing very well. But Mannix said Nowitzki needs to win a title to go to the next level legacy-wise.

“Right now you can make the argument that Dirk Nowitzki is entirely unguardable,” Mannix said.

Mannix, however, is sticking with his Thunder pick. He thinks there were lots of positive signs in Game 1 for Oklahoma City. Mannix said that all the Thunder need to do is adjust on Nowitzki and they could win Game 2.

Mannix said Timberwolves chief David Kahn shouldn’t complain about the Lottery, because if he could pick some good players, he wouldn’t be there every year.

Mannix thinks that Brian Shaw makes sense for Lakers because they need continuity. Mannix thinks that this team is good enough to win the Finals as constructed, so keeping the status quo would make sense.
