Kevin Millar on Bryce Harper, Vin Mazzaro, ’04 Red Sox
MLB Network analyst Kevin Millar joined the show to talk about the big stories around baseball and more.
Millar had interesting comments on why the Washington Nationals aren’t bringing up Bryce Harper. Millar said the team has to worry about his state of mind. “Is he dealing with failure like a big leaguer?” Millar said. Millar said teams can risk ruining a kid’s confidence. He pointed to the Royals’ Alex Gordon as an example of a stud prospect who might have been slowed down by coming up too early.
Millar had funny comments about the Royals’ Vin Mazzaro. He said at least he’s in the record book. Millar said the painful thing was that the team sent him down after that.
Dan asked Millar which Red Sox player from the 2004 championship team deserves a statue. Millar said David Ortiz — no question. Millar said his RBI production was legit and was the key to them winning.
