Kevin McHale talks about how Thunder should cover Nowitzki

NBA TV and TNT’s Kevin McHale joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs.

McHale also discussed Dirk Nowitzki. “I don’t know how you guard him,” McHale said. “He’s really good. He just scores in so many ways. I still think you gotta push up on him.”

McHale thinks that the Thunder should use more double-teams on Dirk, even if it means guys like Jason Kidd would get open looks. “At a certain point, you gotta run someone at him,” McHale said.

McHale didn’t want to make a direct comparison between Dirk and Larry Bird. “They were just really different players,” McHale said.

McHale had interesting comments on what Kevin Durant needs to do. “Getting the ball is 75 percent of your assignment,” McHale said. “You gotta get the ball and you gotta get it in the right spot.”

McHale also said that back in his day, there was a lot of banter going on between players and fans and there were no fines.
