Chris Mannix weighs in on Mavs, Westbrook, Lakers hiring Brown
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs.
Mannix was in Dallas for the Mavs’ series-clinching win over the Thunder. “Oklahoma City didn’t lose this series as I see it,” Mannix said. “Dallas just beat them to it.”
Mannix said Dirk Nowitzki has been unstoppable. “He’s having maybe one of the best postseasons I’ve ever seen,” Mannix said.
Mannix also had interesting comments on Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. He thinks he just needs more time to refine his game, and he could be a great point guard. Mannix said give him two more years … and when he’s 24 he could be “great.”
Mannix weighed in on the Lakers hiring Mike Brown. He said no one knows if Brown will be a good coach, because his value was obscured by coaching LeBron James. Mannix said they wanted to get as far away from the Phil Jackson era as possible, and that’s why they didn’t go with Brian Shaw.
