Chris Dufresne: BCS stripping title isn’t devastating for USC

Los Angeles Times college football writer Chris Dufresne joined the show to talk about the BCS’ decision to vacate USC’s 2004 title.

Dufresne said that it’s not the biggest deal for USC fans. “It’s over,” Dufresne said. “Everyone who knows who won the game.”

Dufresne also pointed out that the Associated Press kept the Trojans as champs. And to USC, that’s a bigger deal, since the year before the AP named USC champ while the BCS left it out of the title game.]

Dufresne said that’s college football. It will never be orderly. “It’s herding cats,” Dufresne said.

Dufresne also commented on the BCS visiting the Justice Department. Dufresne said that there’s no way that’s going to lead to a playoff system. Dufresne said a more likely scenario out of this is that the mid-major schools and the majors form separate groups.
