Spears: Irving may not be Cavs’ choice at No. 1

Yahoo!’s Marc Spears joined the show to talk about LeBron James and the upcoming NBA Draft and more.

Spears doesn’t think it’s a given that the Cleveland Cavaliers will take Kyrie Irving with the No. 1 pick. Spears said they’ll listen to trade offers and may go in another direction even if they stay at No. 1. “If they don’t feel Brandon is that much farther behind Kyrie, you might go Derrick Williams,” Spears said.

Spears said don’t be surprised if the Cavs wait to make a final decision. “You have to wait and see how draft night is,” Spears said. “Someone could make a call last minute.”

Spears said NBA people he’s talked to are excited about Jimmer Fredette. They like his size … compared to someone like Kemba Walker who is considered to small.

Spears also said that Fredette will have an impact similar to Stephen Curry at Golden State. Not only is he a good player, he’ll sell tickets and merchandise because he’s so likable.
