Jimmer Fredette says he can play point in NBA; Knicks are ‘1a,’ Jazz are ‘1b’

Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette joined the show to talk about the upcoming NBA draft and where he expects to go on Thursday.

Fredette said that he doesn’t know where he’ll end up. “I’ve heard so many different scenarios,” Fredette said. “All the mock drafts have been telling me completely different things. I think I’ll land on [one of the five] teams I worked out for.”

Dan asked Fredette if he had the choice between the Knicks and Jazz, where would he go. Fredette said both are great and he has great fan bases in both cities, but Knicks are 1a and Jazz are 1b.

Fredette explained working out with the Knicks last year helped convince him to go back to school. “I’m going in as a point guard,” Fredette said. He said he’s shown teams he can get the ball to the right place at the right time.

Dan asked Fredette the weirdest question he got from a team. He said the Jazz asked him what comes to mind when you hear the numbers 3 and 3. Fredette said “three-peats.” He could have said Larry Bird. He said the team told him: “Usually people just say six.”
