Eli Manning: Plax more welcome then Tiki

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning joined the show to talk about the state of the team, the lockout and his new DIRECTV Football Cops ad campaign.

Dan asked Manning who would be welcome back quicker — Tiki Barber or Plaxico Burress. “I think Plaxico would probably be welcomed back a little quicker,” Manning said.

Manning said Tiki “left on a bad note,” while Plax has fond memories of the Super Bowl. Manning said he was effected by Barber’s criticism as a broadcaster after he left the team. But Eli said that may have helped him become more vocal as a leader.

Manning did say he understands why Barber said some of those things. He said that’s just what the media does now.

Regarding the new commercial, Manning said he’s always been fascinated in great mustaches and was thrilled about the Football Cops campaign because he got to wear one. He said when he heard a mustache was part of it, he was in.

Eli also explained his brother Peyton hair in the ad, which is getting mullett-like: “That was his natural. He’s still all business. He’s gotta little party in the back.”

Manning also talked about the Lockout. He said he’s concerned about the young guys missing a full Spring.

“It’s almost going to be alike red-shirt year for them,” Manning said. ” They’re going to be in the training camp and everything’s going to be brand new for them.”

Manning also jumped in on our music conversation. He likes countrya lot. He said he picked it up in college. He said his first concert may have been Better Than Ezra.
