Heyman: Selig and McCourt are ‘arch-enemies’

SI.com’s Jon Heyman joined the show to talk about the future of the Los Angeles Dodgers and free agency.

Heyman said the relationship with Bud Selig and Dodgers owner Frank McCourt is in bad shape. “At this point they’re arch-enemies,” Heyman said. “Bud Selig certainly regrets giving the team to Frank McCourt. The guy didn’t have enough money. We’re now finding out what kind of guy he is.”

Heyman said MLB did not like McCourt’s proposed television deal. It’s non-competitive and the money will go to the wrong place. “Now he wants to take Dodgers revenue to give it to himself to pay back debts,” Heyman said.

Regarding the trade market, Heyman said the biggest name that could move is Jose Reyes. But Heyman isn’t sure that the Mets can take the public relations hit from dealing Reyes when he’s having such a good move.
