Kirk Gibson talks about Diamondbacks’ success

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibosn joined the show to talk about their surprising success this season.

Gibson talked about how the team emerged as a contender. He pointed to the Spring, when they laid the groundwork to have a successful season. They worked hard and had Navy SEALs come into to talk to the team. He said GM Kevin Towers approached him about having the SEALs come in and it worked out great.

Gibson also credited his coaching staff for all their success. Gibson brought in a lot of great former players and he thinks it’s working out.

Gibson said all the players give him grief over the home run off Dennis Eckersley. Dan asked why. Gibson said that they give him grief over everything.

Gibson talked about his past as a two-star athlete. He could have gone into football, and he said he loved it. He loved the contact, and used some of that in baseball. Gibson, however, said he was happy he chose baseball.
