Rosenberg: Lions’ Stafford could be an elite NFL QB; Verlander over Granderson for MVP

Sports Illustrated and Detroit Free Press columnist Michael Rosenberg joined the show to talk about the Lions’ win over the Patriots this weekend and more from the Motor City.

Rosenberg thinks that Lions quarterback Stafford will be an elite quarterback. “At some point you have to acknowledge what you’re seeing,” Rosenberg said. “All his teammates rave about him. the coaches put their career on him.”

Rosenberg also commented on Ndamukong Suh. Rosenberg said that Suh has to be smarter about his aggression. But he doesn’t think this is necessarily a big problem. “If you’re the Lions,” Rosenber said, “you’d rather have  a guy you have to reign in then a guy like Shaun Rogers you have to wake up in the third quarter.”

Rosenberg talked about Justin Verlander’s MVP chances. He agreed with Dan that it’s unfair to not vote for him because he’s a pitcher. Rosenberg is voting for Verlander over Curtis Granderson. Rosenberg’s argument is that if you took Granderson off the Yankees, they’d still win. If you took Verlander off the Tigers, they’d be mediocre.
