Troy Aikman explains why rookie QBs are now effective in NFL

FOX NFL broadcaster Troy Aikman joined the show to talk about the big storylines around the league. Here are some of his takes:

Aikman also talked about why young QBs are having more success in the NFL than ever before. “They’ve had a lot more throws then I did coming out,” Aikman said. “We’re seeing more pro coaches that are coaching at the college level.” Aikman said in his day, only Dan Marino had success as a rookie. Now you see guys like Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan doing well as a rookie.

Aikman also talked about why his stats didn’t stick out much during his career. He said that was their system. They get down to the 1 and then give it to Emmitt Smith to punch it in. Aikman thinks winning is an underrated stat.
