Mitch Williams: Red Sox should be nervous, Tigers dangerous in playoffs, don’t overlook Rangers

WIld ThingMLB Network analyst Mitch Williams joined the show to talk about the big stories in baseball.

Williams said that the Red Sox have to be very nervous about the Rays. He thinks Tampa could win this series and make it very interesting.

Williams also said Detroit is the most dangerous team in the American League right now. Williams said facing Justin Verlander in a playoff series is tough.

Williams said don’t forget about the Texas Rangers. “There is no starting pitcher that wants to face Texas,” Williams said. He said they have “thump” at every spot 1 through 9.

Williams said expectations are huge for the Phillies. Dan asked if fans will be upset if they don’t go to the World Series. “If they don’t win it, it’s a complete bust,” Williams said. He also said that Philadelphia’s bullpen is very well rested and has been very effective.

Williams stuck up for Prince Fielder for being honest about leaving Milwaukee after the season. Williams think he was asked a question and answered it.

Williams talked about superstition. He didn’t believe in it, but his teammates did. Williams said Lenny Dykstra was: “If he struck out in his first at-bat, he’d come back and change his entire uniform.”
