Falcons GM Dimitroff not surprised by rookie QBs’ success

Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff joined the show talk about

Dimitroff said he’s not surprised by Cam Newton’s early success in Carolina.

“I’m not in any way amazed by rookie quarterbacks in this league,” Dimitroff said. “There are some young quarterbacks who continue to impress. I think it’s great for team-builders to know they can draft a quarterback and play them early.”

Dimitroff talked about how big a priority quarterback is. He said owners are very cognizant about it now and push their team-builders to be very aggressive finding the right guy.

Dimtroff said that backup quarterbacks are worthy are a lot of consideration. Teams have to think about that now. Dimitroff went with just Matt Ryan and Chris Redman on the active roster. “You have to have that guy in that spot that can get you through a couple of games,” Dimitroff said.

Dimitroff also commented on the fake injuries we saw in the Giants-Rams game on Monday night. Dimitroff. said that it’s complicated to change the rules to keep players from faking injuries. The game moves fast and it’s hard for players to get right up after every play.
