Verducci: Kershaw favorite for Cy Young; Phillies most obvious favorite since ’98 Yankees
Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci joined the show to talk about the big stories in baseball and the Cy Young.
Verducci thinks the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw is going to win the NL Cy Young. He gives Kershaw a slight edge over the Phillies’ Roy Halladay. “For the Cy Young, I throw out if you’re pitching in the pennant race,” Verducci said.
Verducci also talked about the Red Sox’ issues. “Now it looks like if they get into the postseason, this is a very diminished team,” Verducci said. He said they look like a “three-and-out” in any series.
Verducci said the Rays are a better team than the Red Sox right now, but you can bet MLB wants a big national team like Boston in the playoffs.
Verducci thinks that the Phillies are looking good heading into the postseason. “I think the Phillies are the most obvious favorite since the 1998 Yankees,” Verducci said.
