Actor Josh Charles goes mano-a-mano with Bob Costas
Actor Josh Charles came to the ManCave to talk sports and his show The Good Wife and read a letter he sent to Bob Costas a few years ago.
Charles wrote an inspired piece to Costas about how he dismissed the Ravens in the playoffs. He was very critical of Costas for not giving his team a chance.
Costas called in and made a few things clear. Bob said he doesn’t read e-mail. And he probably didn’t care nearly as much as Josh did. Costas said that most announcers care most about the best story and travel arrangements. They don’t usually show any bias for one team. But Costas said that fans always perceive announcers are rooting for one team.
Charles also looked back at SportsNight and he didn’t know why writer Aaron Sorkin didn’t use Dan’s reallife stories if the show was about SportsCenter. Charles said that he thinks with a little practice, he could go in and host SportsCenter.
Dan kiddingly said Charles cares more about sports than his craft. But Charles said he did. Charles said he’ll name his first child “Brandon Stokley.” He also may name his new dog “Quadry.”
