Tony Dungy on Peyton Manning’s chances of playing, Colts’ chances of drafting Andrew Luck
NBC NFL analyst Tony Dungy joined the show to talk about the big storylines in the NFL.
Dungy thinks whether or not Peyton Manning returns depends on where the Colts are. He thinks Manning will if they’re in the playoff hunt.
Dungy also said if he ran the team, he’d take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck if the Colts have a bad enough record to get the No. 1 overall pick.
Dungy told a story when he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers and they had Terry Bradshaw and passed on Dan Marino. Dungy said you have to move on at some point.
Dan asked Dungy how Peyton would handle the Colts picking Luck. “I think he would handle it OK because you know it’s coming,” Dungy said. “It’s not like he’s 30 years old when you do it. He knows football and he knows what’s good for the team in the long run. I would see him competing and playing as long as he wante.”
