Kevin Millar explains why Francona didn’t work out in Boston, speculates on Pujols’ future

MLB Network’s Kevin Millar joined the show from the winter meetings to talk about the big stories around the Majors.

Millar commented on his former manager Terry Francona joining ESPN. Dan asked why Francona isn’t the manager in Boston right now. “Eight years in Boston are like dog years … 56 years in real life,” Millar said. “Something happened. Terry had a wonderful run.”

Millar said that the Marlins are very interesting, because they’re putting out so many offers. Millar wonders what will happen if everyone says yes. They won’t be able to pay everyone.

Millar isn’t buying the Albert Pujols to Miami or Chicago headlines. He thinks that Pujols is comfortable in St. Louis and is probably working on a deal behind the scenes.

Millar weighed in on Brewers free agent Prince Fielder as well. Millar thinks that the Brewers are ready to move on, but he expects the Nationals and the Cubs to be in the mix.

Millar told an incredible story about Livan Hernandez buying him a Mercedes. Millar took Hernandez under his wing when he got to the Majors, and Hernandez paid him back with the used Mercedes.
