Jerome Bettis: Playing Roethlisberger worth risk for Steelers; Harrison not dirty
Former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis joined the show to talk about Pittsburgh’s loss to the 49ers and the team’s decision to play an injured Ben Roethlisberger.
“I thought it was the right decision,” Bettis said. “You have the opportunity to be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, you have to take that opportunity by the horns.”
Bettis weighed in on both conferences’ playoff pictures. He said that the last spot in the AFC is chaos. He said in the NFC, it’s a big deal for him that his hometown Detroit Lions will probably make the playoffs.
Bettis thinks the NFC East may be a bit overrated, and he said that you can flip a coin to see who will win that division.
Bettis weighed in on James Harrison as well. Bettis said Harrison told him that he can’t change the way he plays. And Harrison is afraid if he does change his style, he’ll risk getting hurt.
Dan asked Bettis if Harrison is a dirty player. “Absolutely not,” Bettis said. “He is not a dirty player by any stretch of the imagination.”
