Peter King with behind-scenes details on Saints’ bounties

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King joined the show to talk about Peyton Manning and more.

King weighed in on his cover story about the New Orleans Saints’ bounties. King said that the NFL had evidence of a mic on the field picking up a player after Brett Favre got hurt in the 2009 NFC title game of a player saying “pay me my money.”

King said that then-Vikings coach Brad Childress sent tape of eight plays right after the game that he thought should have been called. King said the official apologized to Favre after the game for missing the biggest play of the game when QB got hurt.

King said that the big thing was Jonathan Vilma saying during the postseason that he’d give any player $10K who knocked out Favre.

King also weighed in on Peyton Manning. He said Peyton has a big advantage between today and Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, because that’s when free agency opens up. Right now he’s the only guy out there. King said that Peyton should hold a pro day on Friday.

King said that he heard from a source that the key may be that the Dolphins could offer a lot of guaranteed money and knock out the other teams. King said plenty of teams will offer incentives … Miami might offer guaranteed money.
