Seth Davis discusses Tournament seeding, bubble, coaching carousel

Sports Illustrated and CBS college basketball analyst Seth Davis joined the show to talk about what will happen on Sunday when the field comes out. Here are some of his takes:

— Here are his four No. 1 seeds right now:

1. Kentucky
2. Syracuse
3. Kansas
4. North Carolina

— Davis made a strong case for Drexel, even though they didn’t win their conference tournament.

— Davis talked about the struggled of the Pac-12. He said that they added football schools to the conference, and different programs had issues. It just happened that way. “It’s a down cycle, but it’s been a big down cycle,” Davis said. Davis said the coaches in the league have started playing conservatively and made it a less attractive conference.

— Davis commented on the Illinois job. He thinks it’s a great job. Davis thinks it’s VCU coach Shaka Smart’s job to turn down. He’s connected to the Illinois AD. And Davis said Illinois may be interested in hiring a minority coach. Davis said Chris Collins, a Duke assistant, would be an interesting choice as well.

— Davis said he doesn’t hear a lot about point shaving. He said odd betting patterns are usually picked up automatically. Still, Davis said gambling is definitely a huge presence in sports.
