Scotty Brooks sticks up for Russell Westbrook

Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks joined the show to talk about their season and more.

Brooks talked about some of the ups and downs of Lockout-shortened schedule.

“You don’t have a lot of practice time,” Brooks said. “When you do, it’s condensed and intensity isn’t what it’s been in the past.”

Brooks also weighed in on Russell Westbrook’s outburst last night. “Russell is a very passionate player,” Brooks said. “He plays with his emotions on his sleeve. But he has to be smart.”

Brooks weighed in on the importance of having a point guard. “You better have a good one. Nowadays you need one that scores. Not just playmaking. You’re lucky if you have both. We’re lucky to have Russell.”

Brooks talked about some of the criticism of Westbrook in the past. “He has to score for us to win,” Brooks said. “I talk to Russell every day. eh’s coachable. He wants to improve.”
