Shannon Sharpe explains how Elway landed Manning
CBS’ Shannon Sharpe joined the show to talk about the big stories around the NFL.
Sharpe explained how John Elway wooed Peyton Manning: “Why do movie stars marry other movie stars? Because they know.”
Dan asked Sharpe who has a better chance of winning a Super Bowl next season — Eli or Peyton? Sharpe said it will be hard for Peyton to come in and win immediately. He also noted that the NFC is a bit tougher this year.
Sharpe also commented on Tim Tebow. He said a quarterback like that puts a lot of pressure on the defense, because if you fall behind by 14 points, you’re toast.
Dan asked Sharpe if Hines Ward is a Hall of Famer. Sharpe wasn’t sure. “There are no magic numbers,” Sharpe said. “I don’t know.”
Dan put Sharpe on the spot for his vote. “Will he get in on the first ballot? Probably not,” Sharpe said. “But I think Hines Ward will eventually be in the Hall of Fame.”
