John L. Smith explains why he left Weber State for Arkansas

New Arkansas head coach John L Smith joined the show to talk about his decision to leave Weber State to take over Arkansas.

Smith said the Weber State athletic director told him he’s not going to get another chance like this and he should do it. And he said the players were very supportive.

Smith admitted if Arkansas wasn’t a top-10 team, it may have affected his decision.

Smith said he understands that if he does well he could stick around at Arkansas. But he did acknowledge it could be one-and-done.

Dan asked if he thinks they could be No. 1. “If things happen right, we’re a quality football team. We have to stay healthy. We don’t have the depth of some of the other teams in the SEC. But if we stay healthy, definitely,” Smith said. Smith noted Alabama has to go to Arkansas.
