Steve Kerr says Celtics at disadvantage, LeBron’s distinguishes himself with defense

TNT’s Steve Kerr joined the show to talk about the NBA Playoffs and more. Here are some of his takes.

— Kerr doesn’t think the Celtics have a good chance against the Heat. “Avery Bradley was a huge factor for Boston. The way he defended … especially with the [Dwyane] Wade matchup,” Kerr said. “Without him, it puts Boston at a huge disadvantage.”

— Kerr marveled at LeBron James’ defensive ability, because he can cover guards and big men.

— Kerr compared LeBron to Scottie Pippen, in that he looks to pass first. But Kerr said he’s not sure LeBron is a good enough shooter or has solid enough footwork to dominate a game at the end like Michael Jordan. Kerr said that LeBron is getting better down in the post, but he’s still not totally comfortable down there.   “It’s not like he has a go-to move down there,” Kerr said.

— Kerr commented on his former Bulls teammates. He said as brilliant as Pippen and Jordan were offensively, their defense and the guys around them were the key to that dynasty.

— Despite some issues last night, Kerr doesn’t think officials should have to face the media after the game: “I feel like you’re just opening them up for even more abuse and criticism and they get enough as is.”
