Austin Rivers answers criticism and compares his father and Coach K

Former Duke guard Austin Rivers joined the show to talk about the NBA Draft and more.

Rivers talked about his reputation as somewhat arrogant. He said he’s confident, and that’s different. “I”m reallly not cocky,” Rivers said. “I’m a low key guy off the court.”

Rivers also addressed criticism that he’s selfish. He said that’s absolutely not the case. He’d do anything he could to help his team win.

Rivers said that his father doesn’t have to take him if he fell to Boston. But Rivers said that he doesn’t think he’ll be on the board at that point.

Dan asked Rivers who yells at him more — his father or Coach K. Rivers said Coach K by far. But Rivers said he’s one of the “coolest” coaches out there, because he makes players better so quickly. “He challenges to the point to where you’re like — what is going on? What am I supposed to do?”

Dan asked Rivers about the mixed reviews on North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes. He said that he thinks he’s very good and has made a lot of big shots.
