Chris Mannix says Rockets may be lucky not to get Dwight Howard

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA Draft and what moves are coming next.

Mannix also weighed in on what the Houston Rockets did. He said they traded to get more first-rounders to make a deal, preferably for Dwight Howard. But that’s not happening. Mannix said this might be a good thing, because they were going to acquire Howard even though he definitely is saying he won’t re-sign there.

Mannix said Howard is nervous about the Lakers because he’s not sure what will be there after Kobe is gone. Mannix said there are more positive attributes with Brooklyn.

Mannix said that Houston still could get Pau Gasol. “If they can’t land Dwight Howard, I believe Pau Gasol is next on their list,” Mannix said. Mannix said the Lakers could either start thinking about the future with the players the Rockets took yesterday.

Mannix thinks a pick that could really work out is Sacramento taking Kansas big man Thomas Robinson at No. 5. “I think he’s the perfect fit for that team,” Mannix said.
