Jerry West on Lin contract, Nash with Lakers and Dwight Howard

Hall of Famer Jerry West joined the show from a fishing trip in Alaska to talk about the NBA offseason. Here are some of his takes:

West weighed in on Jeremy Lin’s new contract with the Rockets and why the Knicks didn’t match it.

In the last year he [would cost] $30 million,” West said. “I don’t feel like anyone thinks he’s worth $30 million.”

West likes the Steve Nash signing for the Lakers, because he can shoot so well. But he is a bit concerned about Nash’s defense.

West weighed in on the Lakers with or without Dwight Howard. “I think the roles of [Pau] Gasol and [Andrew] Bynum needed to be defined a bit more,” West said. He thinks Howard is a better defender than Bynum or Gasol.
