Steve Sands explains how to approach Tiger at press conference

Golf Channel’s Steve Sands joined the show to talk about the British Open.

Dan asked Sands how you know what kind of mood Tiger Woods is going to be in. He said it depends on the way he finished the round.

“If he’s in a good mood, it’ll be fine,” Sands said. “If he’s in a bad mood, it’s going to be fine, but shorter.”

Sands said that actually Tiger isn’t that bad, because he follows orders. He said other guys are more difficult. He said you have to be sure to give Tiger open-ended questions and never make a statement — always make sure it’s a question.

Sands said that there’s nothing they really can do about the conditions of the course and the greens can’t be fast. “In this part of the world, if the greens were that fast, with the wind, the ball would never be still,” Sands said.
