Peter King on Brees-Goodell relationship, Peyton’s arm, Randy Moss
Sports Illustrated’s Peter King joined guest host Mike Florio to break down the big stories around training camp.
King commented on the comments he heard from Drew Brees. King said that Brees ripped Roger Goodell because he wants to be a good teammate and a good union member. King said that he thinks a lot of players think Goodell is heavy-handed.
King said that there are bona fide questions about the Bounty-Gate. He saw the evidence and said most of it is showing there was “pay-for-performance” and not bounties to injure.
King recalled when he saw Roger Goodell and Brees a couple of years ago together, and the commissioner was very proud of the Saints quarterback. So King thinks one player’s comments that would bother Goodell is Brees. King said, however, typically Goodell isn’t affected by criticism.
King also commented on Peyton Manning. Peyton told King that he doesn’t like the perception that everything is fine. “He believes right now he has some strength to build up in his arm,” King said. King thinks he’s not sure he can hit a receiver on a fly patter.
King is in San Francisco and commented on Randy Moss. “He seems very interested in football again,” King said. He said he doesn’t want this to go down like Minnesota or Tennessee.
