Bob Bowman explains why he’s had so much success working with Michael Phelps
Bowman said he met Phelps when he was 10 and started coaching him at 11. Bowman said he immediately saw that
“The reason we got the results is we’ve always been 100 percent honest with each other at all times,” Bowman said.
Bowman said he missed the consistency in practice and that’s why he had that mistake in the 200m butterfly.
Bowman said he had his strength coach meet him every day and escort him to the weight room. Bowman said he kept reminding Phelps about his goals.
Bowman said he’s very proud of the way Phelps recovered from some early diversity in this year’s Olympics.
Bowman commented on Phelps’ future. Glenn asked if Phelps is done. “I do think that’s it,” Bowman said. “I don’t think there’s much more he can achieve in swimming.”
