Michael Lombardi explains why you can’t trust preseason results
NFL Network host Michael Lombardi joined guest host Glenn Ordway to talk about the big storylines around the League.
Lombardi said that evaluating the preseason is difficult for management because you have to consider who you’re playing and who opponents are putting out there. “You can’t evaluate an entire team until the third preseason game,” Lombardi said. He pointed to Colt McCoy’s outstanding preseason last year and how everyone thought he was so good.
Lombardi commented on the chances that a judge’s ruling could change the situation in New Orleans. Lombardi said that much of what’s happened has been collectively bargained, so a court can’t do much.
Ordway asked Lombardi if the running game will continue to be deemphasized. Lombardi said that it’s the West Coast philosophy — pass to get the lead, run to hold on to it. Lombardi said that’s where the League is.
