Charles Barkley compares ’92 Olympic team to current team

TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley joined the show to talk about the Olympics and more.

Dan asked Charles what he thinks of this year’s team. He said that this team has nothing inside compared to the old Dream Team. “Cmon, they struggled with the Gasol brothers,” Barkley said.

Barkley said his Dream Team could have beaten this team by 15-17 points. He said the only matchup problem would be LeBron James. Barkley said if LeBron wins four or five championships, he’ll be in the conversation with Michael Jordan as the greatest ever.

Barkley talked about the Lakers’ changes. He looks at the point guard change as a question mark. He’s not sure how Steve Nash will hold up against all the tough point guards out there.

Barkley thinks the Lakers are the best team on paper in the West right now. He doesn’t think the Thunder are the favorites because they don’t get any easy baskets.

Barkley also had interesting comments on Andrew Bynum joining Philadelphia. Barkley said this is the first time Bynum has to be the man. “He’s going to have to grow up and mature,” Barkley said. “He’s going to have to be a leader on this team.”

Barkley weighed in on his love of Auburn football. Barkley said that he likes Nick Saban a lot, but he’d never let his son go to Alabama. “Never.”
