Michael Irvin on Packers’ issues, Luck vs. Griffin, NCAA’s hypocrisy
NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin joined the show to talk about the big stories around the League.
Irvin weighed in on the Packers-Bears game on Thursday night. Irvin said a huge factor is how is Green Bay receiver Greg Jennings’ knee.
“I like Green Bay,” Irvin said, “because Green Bay has had success against Chicago. … But Chicago has Brandon Marshall.”
Irvin also talked about his admiration for Bill Belichick and how he’s working to fix that Patriots defense.
Dan asked Irvin to compare Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. He said Luck looked great in preseason and good in Week 1. But RGIII is something different perhaps. Irvin loves RGIII being paired with Mike and Kyle Shanahan.
Dan pinned him down and asked who he would have taken. “RGIII,” Irvin said. But Dan pressed him, and got Irvin to admit as a receiver, he’d want Luck for his QB.
Dan talked with Irvin about Notre Dame joining the ACC. Irvin said that it’s just business: “It’s all about money, but they go after anybody who is getting a dollar from someone else.” Irvin thinks it’s wrong that the NCAA comes down on kids for small things.
