Pete Thamel says Honey Badger wants to play college football again
Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel joined the show to talk about his cover story on the Honey Badger.
Thamel explained that Mathieu appears to have broken NCAA rules by being part of a promotion for a club. So that probably means Mathieu would think twice about trying to come back from LSU.
Thamel explained that Honey Badger’s father is in prison for murder. His father was a great football player in his own right who got off track with drugs and violence. Thamel argues that Mathieu is at a similar crossroads right now.
Thamel also explained that John Lucas is now trying to help Mathieu and trying to impart that drugs are drugs are the same for homeless guys and millionaires.
Thamel said the vibe around LSU is that they want Honey Badger to play again. But he said coach Les Miles won’t say that yet.
Thamel said that he appears to be a potential third-round pick. Thamel said he doesn’t have the measurables, but he makes plays.
