John Smoltz breaks down World Series

MLB Network and Turner broadcaster John Smoltz joined the show to talk about the World Series.

Smoltz said the Giants are impressive because of their resiliency. It doesn’t matter what happens, they bounce back.

“Winning that first game was like winning two games in people’s minds because of how good [Justin] Verlander has been,” Smoltz said.

Smoltz had no problem with Jim Leyland playing the infield back with the bases loaded and no outs even though a run scored on a double-play groundball. Smoltz said that a manager has to believe his team can score runs.

Dan asked if he ever took a shot like Doug Fister did last night. Smoltz said he once got hit in the collarbone on a shot by Carlos Guillen.
