USC's Lane Kiffin on UCLA loss, Barkley's health, best team in nation
USC head coach Lane Kiffin joined the show to talk about his season and more.
Kiffin talked about the loss to UCLA. Kiffin pointed to the three turnovers as key and said it was a “strange game.”
Dan asked if he thinks UCLA is a better team than USC. “They were Saturday,” Kiffin said. “I’d like to play them again.”
Kiffin confirmed quarterback Matt Barkley will be out for the Notre Dame game. But Kiffin said he does anticipate that Barkley will be ready for a bowl game.
Kiffin said he spent some time with Barkley yesterday and he’s “in the tank.” But Kiffin said that Barkley knows he’s about more than football and is well-rounded as a person.
Dan asked Kiffin when he knew he was going to be back next year (AD Pat Haden announced after the UCLA game that Kiffin will return). “I’ve always been told that,” Kiffin said. Kiffin said it’s always been about the big picture.
Dan asked about his father Monte’s future. “We’ll always evaluate after the season,” Kiffin said.
Kiffin actually said that he thinks Oregon is the best team in the country, even though the Ducks had one loss.
