Coach K explains why LeBron is so special; criticizes conference realignment
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski joined the show to talk about presenting LeBron James at the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year even tin New York last night.
Coach K explained why LeBron is so special. “He has an amazing voice on the court while action is going on,” Coach K said. “In basketball when you have a voice and you’re a leader, it’s really rare.”
Dan asked if LeBron was the best player he’s ever coached. Coach K said LeBron is the “most unique.” But Coach K said he also coached Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. “You might put all three of those players in the top five players ever,” Krzyzewski said.
Krzyzewski made a joke about the NCAA last night and explained that he’s angry right now about how the organization punishes transfer student-athletes.
Coach K is also against conference realignment spinning out of control. “We’re undercutting the very basis of intercollegiate sports, which is tradition,” Coach K said. He said school administrators are acting like businessmen, not people who represent a school.
