John Elway talks about risks of signing Peyton
Broncos executive vice president John Elway joined the show to talk about the state of his team as the season winds down.
Elway and Dan discussed systems and quarterbacks. Dan asked if he could run Peyton Manning’s system. Elway said they had different styles — he was more mobile.
“It’s a treat to be able to watch him work,” Elway said.
Dan asked Elway how much of a risk there was going after Peyton this offseason. “There was a risk there,” Elway said. “I just know his desire to want to play the game and how much he missed it the year he was out. And going through it with the doctors. … We always knew he was going to get better. It was a matter of when.”
Elway talked about the great quarterback tradition as well, saying he went to Stanford in part because Jim Plunkett went there. Now he’s proud that Andrew Luck went there too.
