Mike Florio says Cowboys' Garrett may not be as safe as people think

Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio joined the show to help break down the NFL coaching carousel.

Florio said that Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett might not be as safe as some people think. He said the season has only been over for a short period and a Mike Holmgren or Jon Gruden could be out there. But Jerry Jones will stick with Garrett until he’s got a new guy. “You’re not going to cut loose the guy that you have until you’re absolutely sure you’re going to get somebody better,” Florio said.

Dan asked Florio the best opening. “Maybe Chicago,” Florio said. “They need someone with an offensive mind.”

Florio said you have to look at quarterback, cap situation and division. For example, you don’t want to play in the NFC East.

Florio also weighed in on the MVP race. He said Week 17 sealed the deal for Adrian Peterson in his mind, but a tie with Peyton Manning would also be appropriate.
