Peter King breaks down NFL coaching carousel
Sports Illustrated’s Peter King joined the show to talk about the NFL coaching carousel and more.
King weighed in on Oregon coach Chip Kelly: “He’s gotta go to the NFL. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be hotter. If Chip Kelly turns it down now, how can he do better. Even if he wins a national championship, there isn’t going to be another team that wants him more.”
King also weighed in on the Kansas City job. He said that he thinks Scott Pioli and the Chiefs will divorce shortly. King said there’s a lot of talent there.
King said that if the Bears had made the playoffs, they probably wouldn’t have fired Lovie Smith. But King pointed out that they played very poorly down the stretch.
King weighed in on Jon Gruden as well. He said that he thinks Gruden would fit well with Dallas because he’s a bit of a riverboat gambler. King thinks there’s an “80 percent chance” that Jason Garrett stays with Dallas. But with Jerry Jones you never know.
King said he doesn’t see Alabama’s Nick Saban going pro yet, unless there’s a spot with a really good quarterback sitting out there. King also said that he hasn’t heard anything about Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.
