Kurt Warner comments on role of religion in football

NFL Network analyst Kurt Warner joined the show to talk about the Super Bowl and more.

Warner weighed in on religion and football. Dan asked if God cares who wins games. “By winning, they can lift him up and have a platform they wouldn’t have anyway,” Warner said.

Dan asked if religion will be what we remember Tim Tebow for. “I definitely think that’s going to be part of it, and that’s what he wants it to be,” Warner said.

Warner said he learned a lot about how to judge his audience a bit when he talks about religion — sort of meet people half-way.

He also said fans don’t know to trust players when they talk about their faith because they can’t see how those players behave off the field.

Warner also had interesting comments on the read option. “When I played in the Arena League, I did run the read-option,” Warner said.

Warner said that players have to evolve a bit to stay in the League however and become more of a pocket passer as they get older.
